Two Looks at the Duomo and the Galleria

A Milan Duomo photoshoot with her: white chiffon at the cathedral, a dark gown in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and editorial style in every frame.

The City at Her Feet

A Milan Duomo photoshoot has to begin right here, at the feet of the cathedral, and she understood that instantly. She crouched on the stone paving in her flowing white blouse, rested her cheek against her hand, and looked into my lens with the calm of a woman who already knew the city belonged to her. Behind her the Gothic facade rose like frozen lace, all spires and saints and centuries of patience. I laughed out loud from sheer delight, because the very first frame of the day was already a magazine cover.

A Bird on Cue

Hands on her hips, chin lifted, blouse ribbons fluttering: she owned the square. A bird swept past the spires at the perfect second, and I caught it, the kind of tiny miracle that makes a photoshoot at the Duomo di Milano feel as if the city itself were directing.

Like a Film Heroine

A turn of the head, a dreamy glance toward the spires, and suddenly she looked like the heroine of an Italian film from the sixties. As a photographer in Milan, I have stood on this square more times than I can count, yet her grace made the cathedral feel brand new to me.

Sweet Mischief

Sunglasses on, cheek on her sleeve, the Duomo softly blurred behind her: an editorial portrait in Milan with the sweetest hint of mischief.

The Longest Runway

nd then she walked. Straight across the square, sunglasses on, bag swinging from her fingertips, sleeves drifting behind her like sails, as though the piazza were the longest runway in the world. The whole square seemed to hold its breath for her. Of all the Piazza del Duomo photos I have ever taken, this stride is one of my absolute favorites: confident, feminine, and utterly Milanese. Honestly, the cathedral looked a little jealous.

A New Character

A few streets away, the mood shifted like a scene change in a film: a black blazer over the white blouse, oval sunglasses, and a cobbled street glowing with shop windows. This is the part of a fashion photoshoot in Milan I love most, when a look changes and a whole new character steps in front of my lens.

Inside the Jewelry Box

Then I led her into Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and her dress changed everything. Under that immense glass vault, above marble mosaics scattered with stars, she stood in a strapless dark gown with a sheer skirt and a golden collar at her throat, like a star from the golden age of cinema. A Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II photoshoot always feels like stepping inside a jewelry box, and she was the jewel. I could have photographed her there until the lamps came on.

Fashion Week Energy

Hands on her hips, one leg revealed by the long slit, glowing boutique windows behind her: she looked as if she had just stepped off a Milan Fashion Week billboard. A luxury photoshoot in Milan simply doesn’t get more iconic than this corner of the Galleria.

Golden Hour Indoors

Golden light, a golden collar, and an attitude straight out of a glossy magazine. Made for the frame, made for the feed, made for a Milan photoshoot for Instagram.

The Encore

Back into the sunlight, and the Duomo was waiting for its encore. She stood beside the old lamppost, near the red M of the metro, and glanced over her shoulder as the sun turned her hair to spun gold and the sheer skirt of her gown to smoke. I love a solo photoshoot in Milan for exactly this reason: one woman, one cathedral, and all the attention in the world. It felt as if more than six centuries of marble had been built simply to frame her silhouette.

In Between

A pause to fix a strap, and I kept shooting, because the in-between moments are pure Milan street style.

Full Circle

The last frame, and somehow the most tender. She crouched low on the warm stone with her eyes lowered, the spires rising on one side and the square finally wide awake around her. This is what a solo travel photoshoot means to me: not only beautiful pictures, but a quiet hour when a woman sees herself the way the city sees her, luminous and completely at home. From the first crouch in white chiffon to this soft ending in a dark gown, her story came full circle at the feet of the cathedral. I left the square smiling, already missing that light.
