Villa del Balbianello, best seen from the water
Villa del Balbianello sits at the tip of the Lavedo peninsula near Lenno, with its loggia and terraced gardens rising straight out of the lake. The easiest way to photograph it is from a boat: no ticket, no queue and the villa behind you in every frame.

How to visit Villa del Balbianello
Book ahead
Booking is required, even for the gardens. In high season the popular time slots sell out weeks in advance.
Opening days
From mid-March the villa is open every day except Mondays and Wednesdays, 10:00 to 18:00, last park entry at 17:00. Shorter hours from November.
Tickets
Park and gardens €15 for adults. Villa and park €25, with a guided tour of the interiors of about 50 minutes.
Getting there
A 1 km uphill path from Lenno, about 25 minutes on foot, or a taxi boat from Lido di Lenno.

Your photoshoot
From the boat or in the gardens
Most of our Balbianello sessions happen on a private wooden boat: we circle below the loggia, stop where the light is best and carry on to Lenno or Tremezzo for the rest of the session.
- From the water no ticket is needed, and the villa is in the background of every frame.
- For photos in the gardens, you need park tickets for the time slot we plan together.
- Professional or wedding shoots inside the grounds need the villa’s approval, so plan them well in advance.
- Morning brings calm water and fewer boats; late afternoon brings warm light.
